Sally Grinhey


Sally was interested in martial arts from an early age, attending a Judo class for a few months before training in Shotokan karate. She reached 3rd Dan before starting training in the Li system with Master Swanson in 1986. Sally regularly trains in instructor classes with Master Tony Swanson.

One of the first TAO members to enter competition, Sally competed successfully for 8 years before retiring. During that time she competed at National and European level and also on the semi-professional circuit. In 2003 Sally was voted Combat Magazine ‘Hall of Fame’ Woman of the Year.  Being the first ever Chinese Martial Arts practitioner to have received this coveted award.
